Workshop Description

Handmade Journals: A Fresh Start for the New Year

January is the perfect time to slow down, reflect, and begin something new. In this beginner-friendly workshop, participants will create a handmade journal or sketchbook designed to support fresh intentions, creative habits, and quiet moments of reflection.

You’ll learn the five-hole pamphlet stitch, one of the fundamental techniques in bookbinding, while constructing a multi-section book with a wraparound canvas cover and ribbon closure. The finished piece is both beautiful and functional—ideal for journaling, sketching, goal-setting, or creative exploration throughout the year.

No prior hand-sewing or bookbinding experience is necessary. All skill levels are welcome, and guidance is provided every step of the way. You’ll leave with a completed handmade book and the skills to continue making your own journals at home.
